It is only twice a year that we gather as a voting assembly to do the business of St. Mark’s. At the Fall, October 17th meeting, we will receive the reports of all the ministry teams of St. Mark’s, the report of the pastor and church council, and the report of the treasurer. Please note that all reports are due in the church office by October 4th.
On the agenda for our fall meeting will be the election of church council members and the adoption of our 2011 budget. We will be setting a focus on church missions in the New Year. I will be seeking a candidate to be our “Mission Interpreter”. The position of Mission Interpreter is a synod wide office position. There are training sessions for all Mission Interpreters by synod staff that brings congregational representatives up to date regarding ELCA missions initiatives at home and around the world. The Mission Interpreter brings information and inspiration “home” so that we better understand where our current mission support goes, and how St. Mark’s will be able to support mission activities and programs currently no on our radar. If you would be interested in being trained as a Mission Interpreter, please contact Pastor Koth. You can find out more about the Mission Interpreter position at our synod web site: mcselca.org (go to WHO WE ARE tab, then STEWARDSHIP, then MISSION INTERPRETS).
Finally, one other important aspect of our Voter’s Meeting. It is one of the few times that THE WHOLE congregation worship together. There will be one worship service on October 17th, at 10:00 a.m. As was the case at the church picnic, it is a real joy to bring us all together for worship and it only happens a couple times a year.
Make plans to be with us. Grow in your discipleship within and beyond our congregation. We will see you there!
